What Does a Psychologist Do In Industry?

Abstract: When I entered grad school, the path was clear - it was a stepping stone on the way to an academic position.  When I finished grad school, I decided to go in a different direction. This talk will cover how the decision to apply knowledge and methodologies from psychology to video games led to the formation of a new discipline within video game development, research into non-invasive Brain-Computer Interfaces and adaptive gameplay, a whole bunch of stats and machine learning and attempts to evaluate and operationalize game design hypotheses, the creation of in-game economies that produced billions of dollars, and honestly, a whole bunch of other fun research.
